Excavations in 1968 revealed Copper-Bronze Age culture (3rd–2nd millennia BCE) of the Indo-Gangetic divide.

From 1965–1968, beads and copper implements yielding proto-historic material were found.

Findings show Harappan tradition in town planning, architecture, arts, and crafts.

Pottery: well-burnt sturdy red ware painted in black with pipal leaf, fish scale, and geometric designs.

Post-Harappan remains provide insight into the evolution and continuity of human settlement.

First inhabited around 2400 BCE by Chalcolithic agricultural communities (Sothians).

Early settlements in Chang, Mitathal, Tighrana were small mud-brick houses with thatched roofs; some possibly fortified.

Each settlement comprised 50–100 houses.

Occupations: agriculture, cattle domestication (cows, bulls, goats).

Pottery: wheel-made, painted in bichrome (black-and-white designs).

Tools: copper, bronze, and stone implements found in large numbers.
